WHAT IS A COMMISSION?

A commissioned work is a custom painting created especially for you.  It is conceived based on your theme or animal/s of choice, and the size and color palette of your liking.  Commissions are collaborative in nature and require extra time from conception to completion and for that reason, they are priced 10-15% higher than regular works, based on a set price per square inch.  You can commission a single piece or a polyptych painting which is divided into separate coordinating panels.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

The commission process begins with a discussion about a concept, where we collect found or favorite images, choose a size and orientation, and I begin sketching ideas.  Once an idea is approved, a more detailed study may be drawn, otherwise, the sketch is transposed by hand onto the canvas.  Once the color palette is confirmed and the painting process has begun, you will be provided with progress photos and video along the way.  If at any time you have input and would like adjustments made, it’s important to voice them throughout the process before the painting gets too far along.

HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK?

In order to secure your place in line for a commission, I require a 50% deposit which will be invoiced accordingly.  Putting down a deposit is important for scheduling custom works between regular show schedule deadlines.  The balance is due upon approval and completion of the painting.  Tax, shipping, and packaging are additional.  Note: Aubrey Ashburn Fine Art retains all rights to the image.
